The Style Files

NEWSFLASH! Al's Blog is here at last! Read more of Al's thoughts on Style-  http://alisontriffettstylecounsel.wordpress.com/

What story does the cover of YOUR book tell?

Channel Nine Promo shoot 006Alison is the First Impressions expert, helping clients (both private and corporate) identify their signature style and whether it's an accurate reflection of who they really are on the inside...

Style Means... Several things - how a person looks, the shape of a garment or a style of clothing such as corporate, funky, trendy, casual, formal, etc. It even can refer to how one handles a particular situation or people! In fact, in Alison's terms, true style often has very little to do with clothes or the labels you wear (or don't wear!) but more to do with HOW you wear it and how well you communicate your style with others.

Teens from Behind-6Style & Fashion often DON'T go hand in hand. Sounds odd, but it's more important to know what suits you, which styles of clothing look best on your body type but also how your style fits into your daily life than it is to know "what's in"! Eg. you may like to dress feminine or funky but those styles don't work well in all situations. An edgy/funky style will work in your own social circles but is probably not appropriate in a business setting. A feminine/glamorous style may work for a romantic evening but will not help you land a new account! Take some time to discover your style and how it is working for you.

White dresses on hangers-4Got a Weight on your Mind?

Al says..."Weight & body image are huge issues with many women. Many who feel they have weight to shed say to me they would rather wait to buy new clothes until they've lost a certain number of kilos. Obsessing about a few kilos or the shape or size of a particular body part is wasted energy - yet we all do it! I'm yet to meet a client who is 100% happy with all of their features (me included!) but I firmly believe we should all start right now to bring out our best features by wearing styles that flatter us and make us feel more attractive. If you feel good about yourself others will notice and you will attract more of what you want. Stop hiding behind baggy clothes and dark, drab colours and show the beautiful you - no matter what your size!"
